    Year of the Snake is a progressive, modern jazz composition that heavily features vocals and contains several meter changes. There is ample solo space, with opportunities to open up each section. This is a wonderful vehicle for a soft and sensitive vocalist.

    Mr. Mr. Scarecrow

      As recorded on Ted EP, “Mr. Mr. Scarecrow” begins with somber vocals, and then transitions into a grandiose trumpet feature. The piece uses chromatically descending chords that all have one common tone. (B) There are three open sections in the solo form. I wrote Mr. Mr. Scarecrow in the summer of 2023 when I lived alone on my floor in a student dormitory. I did not get enough human interaction that summer...
