In their almost four-year history, the Teddy P band has created a genre and style all its own. Their sound is explosive rock energy and high-level nuanced chamber ensemble playing set within the frames of highly sophisticated compositions and improvisations.
Teddy P is vocalist Ester Judd, trumpeter/bassist Sean Wilson, drummer Ethan Summerhays, keyboardist Derek Coombs, and saxophonist Teddy P.
The group met in their late teens while at The University of Utah, became fast friends, and converged together as Teddy P amid the vibrant and eclectic music scene of Salt Lake City in 2022... Since then, each band member has amassed an impressive list of credits and accomplishments over the years all while the band has continued to thrive and grow in reputation, solidifying a fan base around the world.
In 2022, Teddy P released their debut album Where the Cats Are, which featured guest guitarist Simon Brown. In the spring of 2024, Teddy P and multi GRAMMY winning saxophonist Josiah Boornazian released Ted EP on the Dubawongwing label. Ted EP was hailed by saxophonist Jory Woodis as one of his “favorite albums of 2024.”
In the summer of 2024, Teddy P and vocalist Emerson Bergenfield released Something in Return on Elegant Noise Records, an EP featuring a cover of Parla Piu Piano (Godfather Theme) and original compositions under the Teddy P sound.
In 2025 Teddy P released Moon Shi which was recorded entirely on the famous Bonnevillie Salt Flats. It features a 10-piece horn section that includes bass saxophone and tuba, and mixes deep grooves and beautiful melodies.
Sean Wilson

Sean Wilson is a distinguished trumpet-player, composer, arranger, producer, bandleader and versatile musician who bridges the world between brass and electronic music. He is currently getting his degree in jazz performance at the University of Utah.
Ethan Summerhays

Ethan Summerhays is known for his unusual and intense approach to drumming emphasizing complex rhythms in direct harmony with other group members. He has earned himself a reputation as one of the most versatile drummers in the SLC jazz scene. He is currently getting his degree in jazz performance at the University of Utah.

Teddy P is an innovative saxophonist known for blending traditional jazz with experimental electronic effects. With a passion for pushing the boundaries of sound, he uses pedals and loops to manipulate the natural saxophone tone. He is currently getting his degree in jazz performance at the University of Utah.
